In July 2024, at least 219 Ukrainian civilians were killed and 1,018 were wounded. This is the highest death rate since October 2022.

This is stated in the UN report.

On July 8, a large-scale, coordinated attack by Russian armed forces across Ukraine resulted in the deaths of at least 43 civilians, including 5 children, and left 147 others injured, including 7 children. The attack targeted Kyiv City, Dnipro City, Kryvyi Rih (Dnipropetrovsk region), and the Kyiv region. One of the missiles struck a hospital complex in Kyiv City, completely destroying the toxicology department of the Okhmatdyt National Children’s Hospital and severely damaging the Center for Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery.

During June and July, the most intense offensive military operations by Russian forces shifted from the northern Kharkiv region to the Donetsk region. This shift led to a significant increase in verified civilian casualties in Donetsk, rising from 125 in May to 224 in June, and reaching 269 in July 2024.

The vast majority of civilian casualties (90 percent) and damage to educational and health facilities (86 percent) continued to occur in Government-controlled areas.
