Arms and power grid restoration: Biden on a new $225 million aid package to Ukraine

The United States allocates a new $225 million aid package to Ukraine. It contains, in particular, the restoration of power grids.

US President Joe Biden stated this during a meeting with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“I announced six packages of significant funding. I also allocate an additional package. $225 million, which, in particular, will go to the restoration of power grids. We will never leave you. I assure you, we will stand with you,” Biden emphasized.

According to CNN, this aid package will include ammunition for HIMARS rocket artillery systems; mortar systems and artillery shells, HAWK anti-aircraft missiles, Stinger anti-aircraft missiles, Javelin and AT-4 anti-tank systems, 155-mm howitzers, armored vehicles, patrol boats, explosives and spare parts.

According to Biden, Ukraine deserved the applause that sounded during the ceremony in Normandy. “You keep standing, you keep fighting, and it’s impressive,” he emphasized.

As previously reported, negotiations between Zelenskyy and Biden began in Paris.
