Argentina became a new member of the Ukraine Defence Contact (Ramstein) group on June 13.

This was announced during the 23rd Ramstein meeting.

“Fortunately, support for Ukraine is growing and not waning. In fact, I am pleased to welcome Argentina as a new member. [Argentina’s Defence] Minister [Luis] Petri, I am glad to have you with us,” US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin stated as he opened the meeting.

Austin’s main message came down to the need of looking for new ways to strengthen Ukraine’s air defence capabilities.

Ukrainian Minister of Defence Rustem Umerov also attended the meeting in Brussels personally.

On June 12, Argentine President Javier Milei announced he would attend the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland. In addition, he is thinking about providing Ukraine with five Super Etendard fighter jets in cooperation with France.
