Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Melnyk held an online meeting with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Immigration of Belize Amalia Mai.

The parties discussed the current issues regarding the development of cooperation between Ukraine and Belize in the framework of international organizations in the context of countering Russia’s aggression against our country. 

Andriy Melnyk expressed appreciation to the Belizean side for its active support of Ukraine. He particularly highlighted the importance of the telephone call between the leaders of the two states, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister Johnny Briceño, which gave a powerful impetus to the bilateral dialogue. 

Deputy Foreign Minister briefed in detail his Belizean colleague about the Peace Formula initiated by the President of Ukraine, and encouraged Belize to join in its implementation. 

Amalia Mai assured of Belize’s unwavering support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and its readiness to assist in the realization of Ukraine’s initiatives in the UN and other international and regional organizations. 

The interlocutors have also agreed to review the issue of abolishing the visa regime. 

The parties agreed to maintain close working contacts and to hold the first round of political consultations during the current year, pursuant to the Memorandum signed between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries in September, 2022.
