A Molotov cocktail was thrown into the house of the deputy head of the Office of the President

The police detained a 25-year-old man who threw a Molotov cocktail into the house of Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Ihor Zhovkva.

This was reported by the communication department of the Kyiv police, UA reports.

“Today, at about 4 a.m., in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv, servicemen of the National Police and the Security Service of Ukraine detained a man who threw a bottle of flammable mixture into the yard of the Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine responsible for European integration” – the statement said.

It was established that the perpetrator was a 25-year-old man without a permanent place of work and residence.

He comes from the village of Kosari, Kamyansky district, Cherkasy region. He said that on one of the job posting sites he found a message about an order to set fire to the house of an unknown person. According to him, he received the victim’s address and instructions from the customer via Telegram messenger. They promised to pay him $4,000 after information about the attack on the official’s house appears in the media, the police said.

He does not know the motives of the customer.

Legal qualification of the event is Part 2 of Article 194 of the Criminal Code, i.e. the Intentional destruction or damage to property by arson. The perpetrator was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The issue of notifying the detainee of suspicion is being studied.

Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the attack on his first aide and close friend Serhiy Shefir. The head of state noted that the attack was considered an assassination attempt. It is unknown who stands behind it.
