Today, it is very important for Donald Trump to find understanding in his audience. He wants to win the election a second time and become President of the United States. Hence his “peace initiatives” regarding the Russian war against Ukraine. They have nothing to do with the world, but are connected, first of all, with gaining sympathy within America and among the leaders of the global South. This opinion was expressed on the FREEDOM TV channel by the head of the Center for Domestic Political Studies of the National Institute for Strategic Studies, Vyacheslav Potapenko.

“Today, it is very important for Trump to find understanding among his audience. He wants to win the election a second time and become President of the United States. Accordingly, according to the analytics of the election headquarters, their potential audience has a positive attitude towards peace initiatives. Therefore, Putin declares “peace initiatives” for his own motivation, external, and Trump declares for internal motivation – because of the elections,” Potapenko said.

He emphasized that it is not yet known how the elections in the United States will take place and end, as well as who will be on the winning team.

“New advisers will be appointed. Most likely, these will be some completely different people. Advisors on international affairs, national security, the new secretary of state, and so on. And, as far as I understand, Trump generally wants to bring in completely different people, not from the American establishment, with different views. Therefore, what solutions they can offer and what may happen is still unclear, because as of today this team has not even been formed. Trump has not yet lived to see the elections, much less the inauguration,” the political scientist noted.

Therefore, his statements today, according to the political scientist, are internal political rhetoric. But which is of some interest in the countries of the global South.

“There they look at Trump as a person who, according to him, wants to end the war. Which also adds certain sympathies to him. When the election process is over, there will be a new President of the United States, officials who are involved in foreign policy activities will be appointed, then it will be possible to analyze something based on their statements. Right now, these statements, which in themselves are very important, certainly have nothing to do with the world. They have to do, first of all, with elections, and are associated with gaining sympathy within the United States and among the leaders of the global South,” the guest of the broadcast concluded.

It is obvious that both politicians would like to show its completion as a successful case. But their vision is somewhat different.
