The economy will not allow Russia to continue the war – opinion

The history of this war for Russia will be a kind of carbon copy of the history of Germany in the First World War. After all, Germany lost it not because someone captured Berlin. Unlike World War II, no one captured Berlin then, but Germany’s economy did not allow it to fight this war. The same will happen with Russia. This opinion was expressed by Ivan Us, Candidate of Economic Sciences, chief consultant of the Center for Foreign Policy Research of the National Institute for Strategic Studies, on FREEDOM.

In his opinion, Russia’s problems are largely due to the exchange rate of the ruble, which is recognized as the most unstable currency in the world. Inflation and lack of stability can greatly undermine the Russian economy and social situation.

“Plus this washes away partially available resources, which go to the same military who are waging a war against Ukraine… If you read blogs from the front line, they are already complaining that not all payments are being made, they are not being made on time, they are trying, let’s say , limit these payments… Even some Russian military bloggers say that you are creating a revolutionary situation in the country,” comments Us.

In his opinion, the only question is when “this problem can explode.”

“The question is when? Because we see that there were already many expectations that this would happen, but they were not justified. Actually, a little over a year ago, Prigozhin attempted some kind of rebellion, but it failed. But, you know, there is no guarantee anywhere that some Prigozhin 2.0 will not appear, who, taking advantage of the fact that the Russian state is abandoning its citizens, that they are not paying them money, can take advantage of the situation and try to create some kind of mess,” says Ivan Us.
