In Poland, British actress Adjoa Andoh, who plays Lady Danbury in a Netflix series ‘Bridgerton’, met with Ukrainian families forced to flee their homes due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
She met with the refugees thanks to the International Rescue Committee which is also present in Ukraine.
“We sat and cried together. The sort of mad schizophrenia of doing the Bridgerton junket in Warsaw and everybody being zhuzh-ed up and fabulous to then, a day later, sitting with women who have run away with a suitcase and a bag of nappies is a stark contrast. I will be going away thinking about them and praying for them. […] It could be my little grandson and those mothers could be my daughters – and it could have been me, if I had the accident of being born somewhere different,” Andoh said, according to The Mirror.
The actress was moved by a T-shirt, painted by Ukrainian kids for her to have as a gift.
“Now I am carrying the likes of Sophia, Mia, and Eva all next to my heart on my T-shirt,” she said.
It should be noted that Nicola Coughlan, known as Penelope Featherington in the show, spread information about fundraisers for Ukraine on Instagram.
