Western partners are actively arming themselves, and supplying weapons to Ukraine on a residual basis. But this is a bad path, because Ukraine’s partners must understand that Russia’s war must end on Ukrainian territory. Otherwise, Russian President Vladimir Putin will go further to Europe with the war. This opinion was expressed on the FREEDOM TV channel by People’s Deputy of Ukraine, Chairman of the Committee of Culture, Science, Education and Media of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Evgenia Kravchuk.

“If there is political will, like, for example, the Danish Prime Minister [Mette Frederiksen], who said at the Munich Conference: “All the artillery that we have is needed by Ukraine, we will give it everything.” Also, all the Baltic countries, everything they had, simply gave it away. But other countries believe that if war is possible, then we must first replenish our reserves, and then transfer what remains to Ukraine. This is a bad way. This is the wrong way. Because this war must be ended on the territory of Ukraine,” she emphasized.

Ukraine is forced to compete with its partners for weapons, and the price of shells has tripled, the deputy noted.

“The longer Ukraine is kept on dry rations, the more likely it is that Russia, with the help of North Korea, which transferred a million shells just last year, with the help of Iran, will cross this line and move on. Europe and the Western world were not preparing for a full-scale war in the 21st century. They built hospitals, schools, and developed businesses. They did not, like Putin, build military factories and did not think about how to make shells. And now we are competing with our partners for weapons, because they are arming themselves, and we must replenish our supplies. For example, the cost of one shell has tripled since the beginning of 2022, because there are not enough of them for everyone who wants to buy them,” she said.
