The Russian occupiers continue to create the appearance of encircling Avdiivka, but the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are steadfastly holding their bridgeheads. National security expert Ivan Varchenko spoke about this on the FREEDOM TV channel.
“The Ukrainian defense forces are defending this heroic town and holding their bridgeheads. And the enemy traditionally acts out wishful thinking, significantly ahead of events. The fact that the Russians continue to lose thousands of their occupiers under the walls of Avdiivka and in the neighborhoods of Avdiivka is unambiguous. They would like to take this city now. They set themselves a task first by the beginning of December, by [Russian President Vladimir] Putin’s speech at a press conference, then by the New Year, now they are talking about taking Avdiivka to vote for the President of the Russian Federation,” he said.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces use every position, including the Avdiivka coke plant, to destroy enemy forces and assets.
“They need to feed their population something optimistic. And it is clear that in this optimism they are ready to talk about dozens of F-16s shot down in Ukraine, and cities once again taken. Now informationally they will wishful thinking. This is a Russian tradition. We are defending ourselves, we are using every line, every fortified position, including positions at the Avdiivka coke plant, in order to destroy as much of the enemy as possible, to cause him as much damage as possible,” the expert stated.
