Over the course of almost two years of war, Ukraine created powerful fortifications on the northern borders. Currently, structures are being built on the front lines. Military expert Vladislav Seleznev spoke about the advantage such structures give the Ukrainian army on the FREEDOM TV channel.
“These structures serve two important key missions. They preserve the life and health of our soldiers, because in well-fortified dugouts, long-term firing points, in trenches that are created according to all the rules of engineering fortifications, it is much easier to conduct defensive battles. The second point associated with the creation of these engineering fortifications is aimed at slowing down the advance of Putin’s army as much as possible in different sectors of the front. The creation of a series of serious engineering and fortification structures, coupled with the corresponding minefields, will completely eliminate the enemy’s advantage on the battlefield both in manpower and armored vehicles,” he explained.
Seleznev noted that construction is being carried out in the Chernihiv, Sumy and part of the Kharkiv regions.
“The only thing that surprises is why in these sectors of the front we have only now come to understand that it is necessary to build, and to build with the whole world. This is a very important mission. Perhaps a slightly belated decision, but, nevertheless, in any case, the sooner these decisions are implemented, the easier and more effective in the future the Ukrainian Defense Forces will be able to maintain those same defensive lines and positions,” the military expert opined.
He added that Ukraine uses not only traditional technologies to create engineering fortifications but also the experience of Western partners, which allows them to create serious structures in a short time.
Let us remind you that the construction of fortifications in Ukraine is carried out in accordance with the well-known norms of the formation of three lines of defense, a support zone for the main line of defense and a rear line. This was reported by military-political observer of the Information Resistance group Оlexander Kovalenko.
