American Abrams tanks and their crews have already arrived in Ukraine and are ready to carry out tasks. A representative of the US Army Command in Europe and Africa, Colonel Martin O’Donnell, said this in a commentary to FREEDOM.

“The United States initially promised to deliver 31 Abrams tanks to Ukraine, a refurbished tank. The states said they would send them in the fall and we did it by then. I can confirm that these 31 tanks are now in Ukraine ready for use wherever they are needed,” he said.

In addition, O’Donnell said, 200 Ukrainians were trained to operate American tanks and returned from Germany with ammunition, spare parts and everything else the unit would need on the battlefield.

“Once tanks start being used on the battlefield, I think everyone will notice. Not only Ukraine, but I think that Russia will certainly notice this. This is a very lethal weapon system. The training that I observed that the Ukrainians went through is very similar to the conditions they will face on the battlefield. I think they will be very successful with these capabilities. When we see the first reports of the Ukrainians using them, where they are suitable, I think we will all notice this,” said a US Army spokesman.

At the same time, O’Donnell emphasized that these tanks are Ukrainian. And it’s up to Ukraine to decide “what they want to do with them, when and where.”

Earlier, military analyst Ivan Stupak said that the first batch of M1 Abrams tanks will be able to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine on a certain section of the front. Ukraine was provided with tanks in basic configuration, but with depleted uranium shells that are capable of completely destroying an enemy target.
