Summit in China with presidents of Central Asian states shows that Moscow’s position is no longer considered, – diplomat

China understands that Moscow is a junior partner for Beijing. Therefore, China is bold and holds a summit with the Central Asian countries. This opinion was expressed today, on May 18, on the air of the FREEDOM TV channel by Ruslan Osipenko, a diplomat and international expert.

This is how he commented on the start of the summit in China of the heads of Central Asia. It is headed by Chinese President Xi Jinping. The presidents of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, once close to Russian President Vladimir Putin, came to visit him.

“Even holding a summit in China with these presidents shows that Moscow’s position is no longer taken into account. It is China’s junior partner. China has already guaranteed security and sovereignty to the same Kazakhstan, gave guarantees of security, boldly declaring this,” Osipenko said.

The expert confirmed that it is no coincidence that the summit is being held not in Beijing, but in the Chinese city of Xi’an, from where the great “silk road” began. And surely Xi intends to revive it and offer these presidents some big economic projects.

“This initiative has been in place since 2013 and is central to China’s new strategy of so-called peaceful rise. In order to offer partners and form such a pool of China’s followers, this economic initiative was launched in 2013, which allows not only to join trade and stabilize and develop their economies, it also allows them to receive Chinese investments for the development of national projects, which does not unimportant. More than 100 countries are already participating in this initiative,” he said.

Thus, China has formed such a pool of followers on five continents.

“Therefore, this initiative is very concerned about the United States, they understand that while they are engaged in human rights and democracy, China has gone the other way – through finance and trade, and has formed a pool of its followers. Now the G7 will discuss how to deal with this and what strategy the US and the EU should develop in relation to China in order to oppose this initiative,” Osipenko said.

According to the diplomat, Putin had two instruments of influence on the countries of Central Asia: force, that is, pressure; and the money he made from energy in Europe.

“And he could support the regimes there by partially corrupting them with money. That’s it, Russia has no project of a great future, it cannot demonstrate it. China gives a project until 2050 and people know that these relations will be stable, and that China is taking a balanced approach, building international relations, and it is a more reliable partner than Russia. That is why these presidents went to Xi’an,” summed up Ruslan Osipenko.
