The attitude towards the Russian Federation around the world is now the worst in 30 years. This opinion was expressed today, on May 4, on the air of the FREEDOM TV channel by Russian journalist and sociologist Igor Yakovenko.
“The feeling that the attack on Ukraine is actually an attack on the entire civilized world, it led to the fact that, at the moment, the entire West, not only NATO countries, but much wider, nevertheless take part in the Rammstein summits 50 countries, much more than NATO members – the psychology has changed, the public consciousness of both the population of the Western countries and the politicians of the Western countries has changed. Russia is an enemy, Russia is an obvious enemy,” Yakovenko said.
He noted that this is confirmed by the results of a relatively recent survey conducted by the largest sociological company Gallup in 130 countries of the world, according to which the attitude towards Russia has deteriorated abruptly.
“Never in the entire time of measurements – this is the last 30 years – has the attitude towards Russia been so bad in all countries of the world, in all regions, which is typical, not only in Europe, but in Latin America and other regions of the planet. Everyone began to treat Russia much worse following the results of last year. And if we talk about the Baltic countries, then these are really countries that have experienced the full extent of the occupation, the Russian occupation, when Russia was called the Soviet Union, ”said Yakovenko.
He also stated that there are several indicators that clearly point to a sharp change in the attitude of Central Asian countries towards Russia. First of all, we are talking about Kazakhstan, although there is no direct confrontation between the countries.
“It is clear that not a single Central Asian country can now be considered an ally of Russia. Kazakhstan, first of all. Kazakhstan is by far the largest, most influential of these Central Asian countries, which are now completely oriented towards China, partly oriented towards Turkey, partly towards the West, because the West has quite large assets in China there. And, of course, there is no direct confrontation with Russia, because, indeed, well, Kazakhstan has one of the largest land borders in the world with Russia. Moreover, it is clear that this border is not particularly protected in any way. Therefore, in general, it makes no sense for Kazakhstan now to conflict with Russia,” Yakovenko said.
At the same time, he added that in Russian politics there are some constant sayings that northern Kazakhstan is “Russian lands and it would be nice to return them back.”
The journalist noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin treated his colleagues from Central Asian countries as vassals, however, they do not demonstrate an attitude of subordination.
“Nothing like that is happening. And Putin was given this to understand when, so to speak, he was received there far from the highest level, not at the highest level in Kazakhstan and other countries of the Central Asian region, ”he said.
