In Russia, there is no strategic partnership with anyone, and especially friendship – Podolyak, Zelensky’s advisor

Russia has no allies. Only the most brutal and unpromising regimes, such as Iranian or North Korean, openly support it. There are countries that are financially insolvent, but that are trying to support morally. For example, Eritrea or Mozambique. Advisor to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Mykhailo Podolyak, stated this today, March 30, on the air of the FREEDOM TV channel.

“They periodically vote on some kind of effective declaration at one or another international platform. There are separate companies from different countries that sometimes tried to allow Russia to bypass sanctions, but now they are very strict with it, taking into account the fact that the world is not interested in Russia being able to bypass the sanctions procedures as such. When Russia says something, no one supports Russia. This is a phenomenal result,” he said.

The adviser to the head of the OPU specified that Russia in recent years, especially after 2014, looked like a country that does not have solid friends.

“Yes, there are global countries, including those interested in receiving dumping resources from Russia. This is obvious. Or interested in receiving some other preferences from Russia. However, there is no strategic partnership, and especially friendship as such, in Russia,” said Podolyak.

He explained that this happens due to a number of factors.

“First of all, it is unprofitable in the medium (I emphasize) perspective, and it is already unprofitable in the short term. Because the reputational losses incurred by Russia will be transferred to the reputation of countries that will publicly declare their support in one way or another. And today, countries value their reputation because it facilitates access to financial, technological and other global markets,” says the advisor to the head of the OPU.

The second component, according to Podolyak, is that historically, this political regime existing in Russia will not last long. And this is already well understood even by those countries that took a pronounced neutral position

“The third component, which is very important, is that Russia does not know how to be an equal partner, it always wants to dominate in any bilateral relations, it will suppress its partner. Roughly speaking, it gradually moves from the role of equal partners to the role of a senior partner, who ultimatum indicates what is necessary, what is not necessary to do, where to move, how to pay for these or other goods, and so on. A good example is the union state with the Republic of Belarus. An even better example is Russia’s behavior within the framework of the so-called CIS or CSTO. Until the moment of the full-scale invasion, Russia behaved defiantly in these organizations – like a master who has puppet governments in other countries, which are obliged to simply obey the will of the Russian Federation,” said Podolyak.

He stated that it is very strange to have relations with Russia, which is now technologically backward, which constantly behaves aggressively, which behaves rudely in relation to partners, which constantly tries to deceive, aggressively expresses its position, and has an extremely negative reputation on external global markets .

“It is pointless to have this or that relationship with Russia. Другие страны сейчас плузуются тем что… they pretend that they have some kind of relationship with Russia in order to get some or other resources from Russia, taking advantage of its weakness,” Mikhail Podolyak summed up.
