Nobody wants to help Russia today, not even Belarus. Only Iran and North Korea remained among the allies of the Russian Federation, other countries are distancing themselves. And if they maintain trade relations, they simply want to earn money and buy Russian resources at a cheap price. This opinion was voiced on the FREEDOM TV channel by political scientist Vladimir Fesenko.
He recalled that the head of the Kremlin, Putin, sought to weaken NATO, but had the opposite effect.
“We see directly opposite processes. Putin wanted to weaken NATO to prevent Ukraine from joining the Alliance. He demanded that NATO renounce publicly and officially that Ukraine would ever be part of the organization. And the exact opposite happens. Last year, at the NATO summit, a decision was made to strengthen, strengthen the military presence on the borders with Russia, including in the Baltic countries, ”the political scientist noted.
In his opinion, the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) has already turned into a “living corpse” and exists only formally.
“CSTO has turned into a living corpse. Formally, the organization exists, but already a number of countries say that it is desirable to suspend membership in the organization, ”the political scientist noted.
Armenia, as a member of the CSTO, hoped for Russia’s support in the conflict with Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh. But they did not receive support, and now there is a strong mood in the country to withdraw from the CSTO, although Armenia chaired it, Fesenko added.
“And this is a process that shows that the CSTO is no longer working, it is falling apart just on the go. And the CSTO summits that took place last year showed that no one wants to support Russia, only Belarus. But she doesn’t want to fight either. Yes, they help Russia, provide airfields and transfer weapons, but they themselves do not want to fight. Therefore, Russia now has such allies that hide their alliance, these are Iran and North Korea. Moreover, Iran also sells weapons to Russia, but officially says that it is aloof from this war, ”the political scientist said.
As for China, it is Russia’s partner in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), has a number of agreements with Russia, including on military-technical cooperation. But at the same time, he also refrains from direct support of the Russian Federation and distances himself from the bloody Russian war.
“Those who trade with Russia and do not support sanctions just want to earn money and buy Russian resources at a cheap price. But Russia has practically no direct allies: neither in the post-Soviet space, nor beyond its borders, ”summed up the guest on the air.
And the Russian Federation is supported by the most odious regimes such as North Korea and Iran, or those countries that are completely dependent on Russia itself: the same Belarus or Nicaragua, Eritrea.
Fesenko also commented on the cooperation of the Russian Federation with the radical Islamist movement “Taliban” in Afghanistan.
“There is no sensation here. As soon as the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan, despite the fact that the Taliban is officially a banned terrorist organization in Russia, they immediately began to establish relations with them. And their delegation was invited to Russia. There are already talks about trade exchange, cooperation and so on. But this once again shows that Russia now has no allies, and they are forced to cooperate with the most odious regimes that exist in the world, ”the political scientist emphasized.
