In the Luhansk and Donetsk regions, Russian troops are trying to attack mostly with artillery and manpower. They protect armored vehicles for some reason: either they don’t have enough, or they are in no hurry to bring it into battle. This was announced by military observer Denis Popovich on the air of the FREEDOM TV channel.
“The Russians are just trying to attack for the most part with the help of artillery and manpower. They cherish armored vehicles for some reason, either they don’t have enough, or they cherish it, they are in no hurry to bring it into battle, ”Popovich noted.
The expert believes that despite the order of the head of the Kremlin Putin to seize the Donbas within its administrative boundaries before March, the occupiers will not be able to do this.
“To all appearances, theoretically and practically, this cannot be done. And their problems, obviously, do not lie only in the fact that now for the most part they attack without the use of armored vehicles, ”he said.
Now, according to the observer, such attacks are taking place in the Luhansk direction.
“There, by the way, the main events can unfold, in the direction of Svatove – Kreminna. This is the road we tried to cut. Now they will try to drive us away from there, try to invade the Kharkiv region and capture Liman in order to facilitate the task of attacking in the Donetsk region. They will try to advance in that direction. Now, according to some reports, they are conducting an offensive, probing our line of defense, ”Popovich said.
If we talk about some kind of large-scale offensive, then we can expect that the Russians will deliver the main blow in one of the sectors, throwing everything they have into the breakthrough: artillery, armored vehicles, aircraft, and manpower, Popovich believes.
“Here they are trying to attack in this way, gradually introducing forces into battle, gradually accumulating them. This, in general, is very similar to what they did last year when they tried to encircle the Donetsk region. They planned for a big coverage. This coverage did not work out, and obviously, in general, events are developing according to the same scenario now, ”the expert shared his opinion.
In order to meet their so-called deadlines, the Russian occupiers will deploy more and more forces and, accordingly, suffer more and more losses.
“To be honest, I can’t imagine how this can be done (capture Donbas – ed.) in the two weeks that remain until the end of the month. But, nevertheless, these deadlines have been set. And in order to fulfill them, they will throw more and more strength for this. And, accordingly, to bear more and more losses both in manpower and in technology. But they do not consider manpower, counting on further mobilization. They believe that they have an inexhaustible human resource. But with technology they are more difficult. They are trying to protect and, at least, protect in the Donetsk area. I mean just Bakhmut and all the theaters of military operations that are there, ”concluded Popovich.
