Regular meeting of the Coordination Council of the NATO Trust Fund for Physical Rehabilitation of Wounded Servicemen took place

On November 1, 2022, under the chairmanship of the Deputy Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine Vitalii Muzychenko, a regular meeting of the Coordination Council on the execution of the Implementation Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the NATO support and supply organisation to ensure the cooperation in the field of medical rehabilitation (hereinafter – the Coordination Council) was held in the format of a video conference.

The Coordination Council’s meeting gathered together representatives of the Government Office for the Coordination of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the Ministry of Social Policy, the Ministry for Veterans Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Guard, the Ministry of Health, the SBU, the State Emergency Service and the State Border Guard Service.

The participants discussed and adopted new initiatives from the SBU and Ministry of Health, in particular, regarding the following issues:
– procurement of medical equipment for the rehabilitation of severely wounded servicemen for treatment (rehabilitation) institutions, subordinate to the SBU;
– professional training (improvement of qualifications) of rehabilitators and psychologists according to international standards;
– the start of the implementation of the next stage of the project on the rehabilitation of Ukrainian servicemen in the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

At that, Vitalii Muzychenko emphasized the importance of avoiding a narrowly specialized response to problems, but taking systemic decisions to build institutional capacity in Ukraine in times of crisis and the post-war period. This applies, among other things, to priorities for attracting international aid from NATO member states.
