The military group, which is located in Belarus, has no offensive potential. This was announced on the air of the FREEDOM TV channel by Lieutenant General of the Reserve, and military expert Igor Romanenko.
He stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin continues to exert personal pressure on Alexander Lukashenko to involve Belarus in the Russian-Ukrainian war.
“Lukashenko is still trying to pay off. It provides training for the actions of the armed forces of the Russian Federation from the territory of Belarus, repairs are carried out by the railway troops of the Russian Federation, as well as civil railway structures from the Russian Federation of the railway infrastructure in Belarus with the readiness to establish troops of 20 thousand or more. Well, in order not to participate with the troops, Lukashenko is going and doing it already, and he did it before, and now he wants to transfer weapons, equipment, ammunition to those troops who will enter,” – Romanenko said.
According to the expert, with the arrival of Russian troops, the pressure on Lukashenko will only increase, but he understands that the decision to use the soldiers of Belarus will end his political career.
“The grouping, which is currently in Belarus, does not have that offensive potential, which is sufficient to organize an action to enter Kyiv, Lutsk, Lviv…,” – Romanenko emphasized.
The military expert believes that now Putin is trying to create prospects for the use of weapons of mass destruction since he has not abandoned his goal of seizing Ukraine.
“He has not stopped in these efforts yet. And the issue with Belarus is also one of the approaches. The whole question is how much he will have the strength and enough time to implement all this, because lately the farther, the worse his positions will be. And in connection with this, these contradictions begin in the Kremlin towers, contradictions between law enforcement agencies, which in war conditions should be, as it were, monolithic, perform tasks. All this is not happening, and he is slowly but surely, in my opinion, approaching his political military-political collapse,” – general said.
Earlier, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reported that Belarus had summoned the Ukrainian ambassador and accused Ukraine of allegedly preparing a strike on the territory of Belarus. The Foreign Ministry considers this a possible part of the Russian plan of provocation.
