NASA Planning Space Station to Orbit the Moon

For a long time, NASA has been working over Moon colonization plans. Next year it plans to award contracts to companies to help with construction.

The space station, which could begin construction as early as 2020, would be called “Gateway” because it would serve as a gateway for spaceships launching to the Moon. Eventually, the Moon itself could be a gateway for ships launching to Mars.

Recently, many new companies have been engaged in sending equipment and spacecraft to space. That’s one reason why Gateway seems promising.

To build the Moon space station would be a very complex task. Earlier, only international partners could have assisted NASA in the endeavor. Today, however, companies such as Elon Musk’s “SpaceX” and Jeffrey Bezos’s “Blue Origin,” are also making advancements in space exploration technology and offering collaborations.
