Collection of Rare Soviet Retro Cars

Dmytro Svarchevskyi, from Kharkiv, has collected over a hundred vintage cars, as well as motorcycles, scooters and snowmobiles, for the past 30 years.

His collection is more than just personal. Taken as a whole, it serves as a visual timeline of the development of the Soviet automobile industry. His car fleet consists of mainly Zaporozhets, Chaika, ZIL, ZAZ and VAZ cars. He also has one car that no one else in the world has, the Kharkiv ER-900.

Svarchevskyi has a workshop that does more than just simple restorations. At least 40 people work on each car, to make it look as if it has just come off of the assembly line. The full restoration of a single car takes at least three years.

There will also be a retro motor-rally in Kharkiv on May 19, where rare cars from the 1940s will be displayed. Svarchevskyi will show three of his pre-war cars.
