In Germany, Olaf Scholz’s government has allocated an additional €3 billion for military aid to Ukraine in 2025.
This was reported by Reuters
German Finance Minister Jörg Kukis informed the Bundestag Budget Committee in a letter quoted by Reuters that the requirements for the allocation of additional funds for Ukraine had been met.
In the letter, the German Finance Ministry agreed to additional spending of €2.547 billion for 2025. Taking into account other costs, including reimbursement from the European Peace Fund, Germany will allocate 3 billion euros, Reuters reports.
And from 2026 to 2029, according to Kukis’s letter, commitments for military aid to Ukraine in the amount of 8.252 billion euros will be approved. This will bring the total increase in aid to more than €11 billion.
The Budget Committee is expected to approve the allocation of funds on Friday, 21 March, provided that the upper house of the Bundesrat approves the reform of billions of euros in investments.
On Tuesday, the lower house of the German parliament, the Bundestag, approved a radical change in fiscal rules aimed at increasing military spending and boosting economic growth.
