U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoy for Middle Eastern affairs, Steve Witkoff, announced that ceasefire negotiations will continue in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on March 23.

Witkoff made this statement in an interview with Fox News.

According to him, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Trump’s National Security Advisor Mike Waltz will once again travel to Saudi Arabia to represent the American side.

The main topic of the meeting is the detailed discussion of agreements, particularly regarding a 30-day ceasefire.

When asked about the cessation of attacks on energy infrastructure and targets in the Black Sea, Witkoff stated that “the Russians are now agreeing to both of these aspects.”

“I sincerely hope that the Ukrainians will also agree to this,” Witkoff added.

“We certainly have some details to discuss, but this will begin on Sunday in Jeddah, and we will have a good conversation to achieve positive results,” he said

He also mentioned that the proposed U.S.-brokered 30-day ceasefire would cover “energy and infrastructure as a whole.”

It remains unknown who will represent Ukraine in these negotiations. Russia has also not officially announced any talks with the U.S. on March 23.

As previously reported, U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin held a phone conversation on March 18, which lasted over an hour and a half.

Following the call, the Kremlin’s press service reported that Russia insists on halting foreign military aid and intelligence support to Ukraine.

During the conversation, Trump and Putin agreed that peace negotiations on the Russia-Ukraine war should “begin immediately in the Middle East.”

The Kremlin also stated that, in the discussion with Trump, Putin once again rejected the idea of a 30-day ceasefire but agreed to refrain from attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and “issued the corresponding order to the military.”

However, on the night of March 19, Russia launched a massive kamikaze drone attack, striking civilian infrastructure in multiple regions of Ukraine.
