Active military operations continue in the Kursk region, in the suburbs of Sudzha and the areas around it. This was stated by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Olexandr Syrsky.
“The Russian Federation is using assault units of the airborne troops and special operations forces to break through our defenses, drive our troops out of the territory of the Kursk region of the Russian Federation and transfer military operations to the territory of the Sumy and Kharkov regions,” Syrsky wrote on Telegram.
He noted that Russian troops are carrying out assault operations without regard for losses. Since August 2024, the Russian army has lost almost 55 thousand soldiers in the Kursk operation zone, of which 22 thousand were killed, about a thousand were captured.
In addition, according to the commander-in-chief, about 2.1 thousand units of military equipment and weapons of the Russian army were damaged or destroyed, in particular 90 tanks, 654 combat armored vehicles, five MLRS, two air defense systems, one aircraft, two helicopters, more than 1,100 vehicles, 28 units of special equipment, as well as almost 1.5 thousand drones.
“In the most difficult situation, my priority was and remains saving the lives of Ukrainian soldiers. For this, units of the Defense Forces, if necessary, maneuver to more advantageous positions. First of all, unmanned components are used, as well as artillery fire weapons. I have given all the necessary orders for this,” he said.
Syrsky added that Ukrainian defenders will hold the defense in the Kursk region for as long as it is appropriate and necessary.
Earlier, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Olexandr Syrsky, denied the information that there is a threat of encirclement of Ukrainian troops in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation.
