More than 70% of French people are concerned that the war could threaten Russia’s neighbours other than Ukraine.

These are the results of a poll conducted by Elabe and commissioned by BFMTV.

77% of respondents said they were concerned about the risk that the war could threaten Russia’s other neighbours, in addition to Ukraine.

23% fear that the war could directly affect France.

Almost 60% of French people agree that France, as a nuclear power, could take on the defence of its European neighbours with a ‘nuclear umbrella’ after President Emmanuel Macron voiced such a proposal.

Polls conducted in early March after the scandalous meeting between the Ukrainian president and the US leadership at the White House showed that 64% of French people were in favour of continuing to support Ukraine, and 67% were in favour of sending peacekeepers.

Almost three-quarters of the French said they no longer perceive the United States as an ally.
