Today, the delegations of Ukraine and the United States met in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to discuss steps to achieve lasting peace.

Ukraine expressed its readiness to support the U.S. initiative to immediately introduce a 30-day ceasefire, provided that the Russian Federation simultaneously complies with this agreement. The United States, for its part, will inform the Russian side that reciprocity in implementing this initiative is a key condition for achieving peace.

An important decision of the meeting was the immediate resumption of US security assistance to Ukraine, including intelligence sharing. The delegations also discussed humanitarian issues, including the exchange of prisoners of war, the release of detained civilians and the return of forcibly displaced Ukrainian children.

The parties agreed to start negotiations to conclude a sustainable peace agreement that will ensure Ukraine’s long-term security. In addition, the two presidents agreed to conclude a comprehensive agreement on the development of Ukraine’s critical mineral resources, which will help strengthen its economy.

The meeting in Jeddah was an important step towards achieving stable peace and restoring security in the region.
