Italy will contribute €13 million to Ukraine’s Energy Support Fund, following the signing of a corresponding agreement.
This was announced by Ukraine’s Ministry of Energy.
The Energy Support Fund of Ukraine was established in April 2022.
The agreement on Italy’s contribution was signed by Italian Ambassador to Kyiv, Carlo Formosa, in the presence of Deputy Minister of Energy, Roman Andarak.
“This assistance will allow us to procure essential equipment and strengthen the resilience of Ukraine’s energy system at a time when the enemy relentlessly attacks energy infrastructure, while Ukrainian energy workers work around the clock to restore damaged facilities, ensuring that Ukrainians have light and heat in their homes,” Andarak stated.
Currently, announced partner contributions to the Energy Support Fund exceed €1 billion.
The fund’s donors include both public and private sectors from over 30 countries.
Meanwhile, media reports indicate that the U.S. has halted support programs for Ukraine’s energy system. Specifically, the U.S. State Department has suspended the USAID project aimed at restoring Ukraine’s energy grid following Russian attacks.
The Trump administration has announced the cancellation of more than 90% of USAID grants.
