Ukraine-U.S. rare earth minerals deal in final stages – Stefanishyna

The Ukrainian and U.S. teams are in the final phase of negotiations on an agreement concerning Ukraine’s rare earth minerals.

Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration and Minister of Justice, Olha Stefanishyna, announced this on X, Ukrinform reports.

“Ukrainian and U.S. teams are in the final stages of negotiations regarding the minerals agreement. The negotiations have been very constructive, with nearly all key details finalized. We are committed to completing this swiftly to proceed with its signature,” Stefanishyna wrote.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated earlier that the agreement with the U.S. on the use of Ukraine’s natural resources must include clear security guarantees from the United States.

He also emphasized that in the agreement on rare earth minerals, Ukraine is ready to be an equal partner rather than a debtor.
