Only Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin should bear the economic losses for his illegal war against Ukraine.
U.S. Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick stated this on his X (formerly Twitter) account, as reported by Ukrinform.
“Putin, and only Putin, must bear the economic losses for Putin’s illegal and unprovoked invasion of Ukraine,” he wrote.
According to Fitzpatrick, forcing Ukraine to compensate for these losses would be shifting blame onto the victim and extorting the victim.
Earlier, Fitzpatrick stated that no one can impose an agreement on Ukraine that does not guarantee the nation’s security and sovereignty. Any peace agreement must ensure an immediate end to the atrocities in Ukraine, hold the aggressor accountable, and be based on rational patriotic principles.
As Ukrinform previously reported, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that any agreement on the use of Ukraine’s natural resources with the United States must include clear security guarantees from the U.S.
Earlier, media sources reported that a draft agreement between the U.S. and Ukraine on rare earth minerals and other natural resources, proposed by the Trump administration, would not have been accepted by any president, and that the new version of the project is stricter than the previous one.
