U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance said that Washington could apply both sanctions and military measures against Russia if Vladimir Putin does not agree to a peace deal that guarantees Ukraine’s long-term independence.

The United States may send troops
According to Vance, the option of sending US troops to Ukraine remains “on the table” if Moscow does not show readiness for constructive negotiations.

“There are economic instruments of influence, and there are, of course, military instruments of influence that the United States can use against Putin,” he said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal.

Pressure on the Kremlin is growing
Vance emphasized that Donald Trump’s administration does not intend to allow a frozen conflict. According to him, Putin either agrees to peace or faces new serious consequences.

It is expected that the issue of sanctions and military support for Ukraine will be discussed during the Munich Security Conference, which will take place today.
