In January 2025, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine codified and approved for use around 130 new weapons and military equipment samples for the country’s defense forces. Approximately 100 of them were produced by Ukrainian arms manufacturers.
This was reported by Deputy Minister of Defense Anatolii Klochko, according to the ministry’s press service, Ukrinform reported.
“There has been particularly noticeable progress in the development of various types of unmanned systems, including aerial, ground, naval, and electronic warfare (EW) platforms,” the press service quoted Klochko as saying.
Among the newly codified military equipment, unmanned aerial systems (UAS) make up the largest share, with nearly 40 different models. Notably, some of these drones feature fiber-optic control channels.
Additionally, over 20 types of military vehicles were approved, covering various roles and applications. The list also includes ammunition, logistics equipment, ground-based robotic systems, and specialized engineering and chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) defense equipment.
Among the foreign-made weapons approved for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are various types of firearms from leading European and U.S. arms manufacturers, including grenade launchers and specialized military vehicles.
Earlier, it was reported that Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov visited the Netherlands, where he inspected an air base training Ukrainian pilots for F-16 operations.
