U.S. President Joe Biden expressed confidence that the Congress will continue to support Ukraine, regardless of a possible change in the White House administration. In particular, he emphasized the importance of further assistance to deter Russian aggression, Ukrinform reports.

“I know that there are a significant number of Democrats and Republicans on Capitol Hill who believe that we must continue to support Ukraine. I hope and expect that they will speak out and disagree with President Trump if he decides to cut off funding for Ukraine,” the current US president said.

Biden also drew attention to the difficult economic and political situation in Russia, which is the result of the war and Western sanctions. “Putin has economic problems, significant economic problems, as well as political problems within the country,” the White House chief emphasized.

According to Biden, it is important not to allow the Russian dictator to regain strength and continue his aggression. The American leader called for further support for Ukraine to maintain pressure on the Kremlin.

As a reminder, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone conversation with Joe Biden, during which they discussed new sanctions against Russia and ways to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense system.
