President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported the attack, stating that Ukrainian defenders managed to shoot down more than 50 missiles and a significant number of drones. However, there were impacts, with Russian forces targeting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Power outages have been reported in several regions, and energy workers are striving to restore electricity as quickly as possible.
“Today, Putin deliberately chose Christmas for this attack. What could be more inhumane? […] I thank everyone working for the country, those on combat duty, and those defending our skies. We will restore everything we can. Russian evil will not break Ukraine or distort Christmas,” Zelenskyy emphasized.
