Security guarantees for Ukraine are the key topic of negotiations in Brussels. This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy before his meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
“It is very important to use these two days in Brussels to meet with all our partners and have the same, which is very important, not divided – the same, joint position of Europe on how to secure Ukraine, how to strengthen our people and, of course, our army,” the Head of State said.
Special attention was paid to strengthening Ukraine’s air defense capabilities, especially now, during winter.
“We have to do everything necessary now to make sure that when it comes to air defense, other weapons systems, that we provide whatever we can. We know of your request to make sure that 19 systems are delivered to Ukraine to protect critical infrastructure. So, this will all be on the agenda,” the NATO Secretary General said.
Mark Rutte added that another important topic of the talks was Ukraine’s economy. According to him, the example of Denmark and Lithuania in procuring Ukrainian weapons is very important in this regard.
“This is good news because it means more weapons for Ukraine, but also money for the Ukrainian economy. So, this is a very practical way to support you,” he concluded.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Mark Rutte will also meet with leaders, prime ministers and other representatives of European countries in Brussels.
