Germany’s Minister of Defense, Boris Pistorius, warned that Europe is now facing a long-term threat.

Pistorius made this statement at an event organized by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Arnsberg, as reported by Tagesschau.

The minister emphasized that Russia’s war against Ukraine is no longer a regional conflict.

According to the head of Germany’s Ministry of Defense, the Kremlin’s leader, Vladimir Putin, “has long since fully switched to a war economy.”

In three months, Russia produces as many weapons and ammunition as the entire European Union does in a year, Pistorius added.

He also noted that in his speech at the end of October, Putin talked about a “serious, irreconcilable struggle for a new world order.”

Pistorius said that Putin already considers himself a victor in the war against Ukraine.

At the same time, the hybrid war, using disinformation and fake news, is in full swing, the German minister warned.

“Our security is a fragile asset,” he said.

Germany needs to accelerate its pace and invest more in its “military potential,” concluded the Minister of Defense.

It was previously reported that the German government will publish a new strategy for the development of the defense industry by the end of the year, aiming to reduce bureaucracy and speed up arms production.

In September, Pistorius stated that Germany is ready to become the main pillar of deterring Russia’s aggression in Europe.
