President Joe Biden congratulated Donald Trump on his victory in the presidential election during a phone call, according to the White House, as reported by CNN.
In the conversation, Biden emphasized the importance of a “smooth transition of power” and the need to work toward national unity post-election. “He also invited President-elect Trump to meet at the White House, with staff arranging a specific date soon,” added the White House.
Additionally, Biden spoke with Vice President Kamala Harris, congratulating her on a “historic campaign.”
Earlier, Harris had also called Trump to congratulate him, formally conceding her defeat. She is expected to address her supporters on Wednesday evening.
