The Swedish government decided to allocate €63 million to Ukraine as part of previous military aid packages, a government statement reports.
The new financial contribution includes €20 million to support Ukraine’s industrial base under the Danish initiative to procure weapons from Ukrainian manufacturers.
This decision follows last week’s authorization for the Swedish Defense Materiel Administration (FMV) to negotiate and conclude an agreement with Denmark for the donation of funds for Ukraine’s defense equipment purchases.
The remaining €43 million will support various multilateral initiatives for Ukraine, including a coalition procuring air-to-air missiles for Ukraine’s F-16 program, a coalition training Ukrainian marines, a demining initiative, and an IT coalition.
Sweden will also contribute to NATO’s Comprehensive Assistance Package for Ukraine, which includes military equipment procurement.
In May, it was announced that Sweden plans to provide Ukraine with SEK 75 million in military aid for 2024-2026.
Last month, the Swedish government unveiled a new military aid package for Kyiv worth over €400 million, which includes potential training for Ukrainian pilots on Gripen fighter jets.
