In Brussels, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with President of the European Council Charles Michel.

The key topic of the negotiations was the presentation of the Victory Plan. The head of the Ukrainian state noted that he expects the EU to actively participate in its implementation.

“For me, it is very important to share our Victory Plan with all the leaders who have been helping us since the beginning of the full-scale war. Our plan is about how to strengthen Ukraine so that it is ready for diplomacy,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

Among other issues discussed during the meeting were progress in implementing the Peace Formula, further defense support from the European Union, and ensuring the resilience of the Ukrainian economy and financial system.

In particular, Ukraine expects that by the end of this month, a decision will be implemented under the G7 initiative regarding €35 billion from revenues generated by frozen Russian assets.

“Now we need to find the right mechanism to receive these funds as quickly as possible,” the President noted.

The head of state also emphasized that Ukraine is ready to move as quickly as possible in the negotiation process regarding EU membership and to accelerate the alignment of its legislation with EU norms.

Another topic of the negotiations was strengthening sanctions against Russia and its allies. Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that it is necessary to continue combating the circumvention of sanctions through third countries and to take strong measures regarding key sectors of the Russian economy and the shadow fleet.

Charles Michel emphasized that the EU will stand by Ukraine for as long as necessary.

“We know that you need more support—military and financial. As soon as possible. Therefore, we will discuss how we can accelerate and put in more efforts for the immediate support of Ukrainians,” said the President of the European Council.
