U.S. President Joe Biden is scheduled to visit Germany next week after postponing a previously planned trip due to Hurricane Milton, Spiegel reports.

The canceled trip was initially supposed to last several days, but this upcoming visit will be shorter. Nevertheless, it is expected to focus on the same political topics, particularly the partners’ next steps concerning Ukraine and the Middle East.

It is already known that Biden has meetings planned with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Chancellor Olaf Scholz on October 18.

The German federal government and security services in Berlin are already preparing for the visit.

Biden also announced a “Ramstein” meeting of leaders on October 12, which Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called “special.” According to Zelensky, Ukraine expects concrete support from its partners to strengthen its strategy.

However, the White House announced that Biden postponed his trip to Germany to prepare for Hurricane Milton in the U.S. and to assist with recovery efforts after Hurricane Helen, which claimed over 200 lives last month. It was later revealed that U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken would also not travel to Germany.

As a result, the “Ramstein” meeting was postponed.
