In New York, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump.
“I believe we share the view that the war in Ukraine must be stopped. Putin cannot win. Ukrainians must win. And I want to discuss the details of our Victory Plan with you,” Zelenskyy said before the meeting.
Zelenskyy emphasized the need to pressure the Russian dictator and force him to seek peace, presenting Trump with Ukraine’s Victory Plan.
The Ukrainian president also briefed Trump on the situation at the front, the ongoing operation in the Kursk region and its objectives, Ukraine’s innovations in combating Russian terror, and the disproportionately high losses suffered by the Russian army.
The meeting included a detailed discussion of the overall situation in Ukraine, the war’s impact on Ukrainian citizens and the economy.
A key focus of the conversation was the ongoing shelling of cities and civilian infrastructure by Russia and the role of American Patriot missile systems in protecting lives.
Zelenskyy also stressed the importance of cutting off all avenues for the aggressor state to fund its war efforts through oil and gas sales, as well as halting the supply of Western components for Russian missiles.
Donald Trump described the meeting as a positive sign.
“He [the President of Ukraine] has been through hell, and his country has gone through a kind of hell that few nations have experienced—something like this hasn’t happened anywhere before. No one has ever seen anything like it. It’s a terrible situation,” Trump said.
